Narratology is a relatively new discipline connected with literary studies. Despite its novelty a huge literature has already come up. However, its relation to literature concerns purely formal aspects of story -telling/writing. Hence the author prefers to call it ‘formalist narratology’. The present study is an attempt to use the tools of formalist narratology without losing sight of the content of the narrative. The author has also added his notes of dissent from formalist narratology. He links it with the contents of popular narratives and closely defines the way in which the tools of ‘Closure’ and other structural nuances are used.
